Spinach Fresh
Spinach is a highly nutritious vegetable that is rich in vitamins A, K & C, iron, calcium and antioxidants. It is low in calories and is high in oxalic acid. Minerals such as potassium, phosphorous and zinc are also present. It helps battle arthritis, heart disease and certain types of cancers such as "colon" and "prostate" cancer. Its characteristic property is the presence of "oxalic acid" which helps regulate the body's absorption of minerals such as iron and calcium. Being low in calories, it is ideal for "weight-watchers" as a low-fat nutrient rich meal.
Spinach is often used to make curries, sabjis and can be consumed raw in salads, boiled, baked and pressure-cooked. Spinach is juiced to make a refreshing drink. It makes a great additition to salads, soups and sandwiches.
